"ORIGINAL LEATHER ART BY CAROL MASSEY"
A little history...or personal bio:
I've been co-creating leather artworks with the influencing nature of
Spirit since early 2006. Prior to that, I enjoyed the art of writing
about my life experience as an individual, yet, mysteriously I knew, via intuition, I was attuned to all life as part of an undivided
energetic spiritual phenomenon.
For your possible interest, my personal
story, To Honor the Bluebird, is e-published at my friend, Phil Williams, New Alchemy Website.
Since the writing of my personal story, my understanding has continued to evolve. Rather than thinking of myself and others as "bodies' capable of acting from our own centers, new awareness has emerged, bringing with it a feeling of having awakened from a very deep sleep. Culture has erroneously conditioned us to believe that we are 'bodies' which 'can do' and 'can act' from our own self-centers, cut off from one another and our natural world, and this visual perception has been largely accepted as 'reality'. "What you see is what you get" has become a catch-phrase that emphasizes the degree to which we have become dependent on logical and rational thought to explain our life experience. A slight shift in perception, moving from fixed ideas to an attitude of questioning curiosity shows us something different, something wonderful. We are always moving and acting under the mutual influence of one another, and the shaping nature of space, which we share with all creation. To know life to be ongoing, and continually evolving in every present moment, embracing all creation... is to be at home in the universe, and to allow the joy of living to be restored.
Two friends, Alan Rayner, and Ted Lumley have
written extensively about 'Inclusionality', as it is called, and if you
would like to read more about it, here are links to their websites: Alan Rayner and Ted Lumley
Returning now...to the art of leather tooling!
Each leather artwork begins as an inspiration, originating from digital images captured either by me, or my husband, and photographer, Jim Massey. After generating a pattern from an image and scribing it onto the leather, the pattern is then cut with a swivel knife, hand-tooled, and painted or stained. Through this process an original work of art comes to life.
I am pleased to consider special requests for particular art work, hand-tooled from your photographs which are personally meaningful to you. Please contact me via email and attach a large digital image file for consideration. We can work out the details and the cost for commissioned pieces. I do request on average 6-8 weeks for completing custom pieces, and depending on the number of custom orders that are pending, you will be promptly advised if the wait time is longer. The wonderful song, "you can't hurry love"....applies to leather-toolers as well. ;)
May we step, and hammer lightly on this, our sacred Earth, always sharing with one another, our peace, love, and joy!
~~Carol Massey
