MISSISSIPPI RIVER DELTA COUNTRY
Old man river, that old man river,
He don’t say nothin’, but he must know somethin’
That old man river, he just keeps rolling along.
Mississippi delta country is life in slow motion, a step out of time compared to the whirlwind of activity in larger cities and towns. Maybe life there takes its cues from the river. Certainly it paces itself with the natural order of the flowing Mississippi, where time seems a little less important and schedules are more flexible, welcoming strangers who come to the area with an open heart, a firm handshake, and abundant smiles. On a recent trip to the delta regions in the south, it seemed a little odd to see the changes taking place in the small town of Tunica. We made a brief stop at the casinos that light up the night... and thought about how change is coming for the river towns in the Mississippi delta. The rich heritage of the south has given us an abundance of gifts, sharing it's music, easy living style, down home southern cooking, sweet tea, and the enduring message that life can be very hard sometimes because it is well worth the effort.
Hope you enjoy some of our favorite pics from the places that hold a special space in our hearts.
