I have loved art since I was a small child and remember as a little girl, sitting with my Big Chief tablet and filling page after page with pencil and crayon drawings. This love of art remained with me throughout my life, but took a back seat when I started college. I majored in education and chose to work with special needs children. Even though my teaching position kept me extremely busy, I knew the day would come for retirement. A few years before retirement, I decided to start painting so I would have something to keep me busy when I no longer was a special education teacher. Now that I am retired, I have plenty of time to paint the things I love. Pets have always been a part of my life and I found painting animals to be especially enjoyable. After doing a painting of Christ, I discovered I wanted to tackle portraits. I began taking classes from a professional portrait artist and now enjoy painting people. Since my big brother, Jim, takes beautiful photographs, I have started to incorporate some of his unique work into my paintings. I paint pets and portraits from photographs. If you have a picture of a pet or loved one you would like to have painted, you can e-mail, call, or write to me. If you live near my brother in Springfield,Mo. he would be happy take a digital photograph of your subjects and send them to me to paint.

I also do small pet portraits in oil on canvas, or a combination of acrylic and oil on heavy paper.
